Your First Garden: A Complete Beginner's Guide

1. Getting Started
Welcome to Bloom Tycoon! When you first spawn, you'll land on a small 4×4 plot with a Wooden Hoe, a handful of Goldenwheat seeds, and 250 gold. Your first goal is simple: plant, harvest, sell, expand.
- Walk to a tilled tile and press E to plant a seed.
- Water crops with the default Watering Can — this cuts grow time by ~30%.
- Harvest ripe crops by clicking, then run to the shop and sell.
2. The Seed Shop
Once you have 500 gold, unlock the Seed Shop on the west side of the hub. It sells:
- Goldenwheat — 15g/seed, sells for 30g (2× ROI)
- Sunpetal — 20g/seed, sells for 50g (2.5× ROI)
- Wispmint — 25g/seed, sells for 45g (1.8× ROI, but fast)
Sunpetal has the best return-per-seed, but Goldenwheat's shorter grow time (2m vs 3m) makes it the pure hourly-gold king in the early game.
Which crop is best for you?
- Active playing: Goldenwheat every time. Faster cycles = more xp.
- Idle / going AFK: Sunpetal or Wispmint. Longer grow window means less waste.
3. Your First Pet
At level 5, the Snail pet becomes available for 500g at the pet shop. It's D-tier, but it gives every adjacent crop a small growth boost — a solid economic pickup for beginners.
4. Unlocking Rare Crops
Rare crops don't appear in the shop. You unlock them by:
- Reaching level 10 (about 2 hours of active play)
- Talking to the Seed Merchant NPC in the greenhouse
- Completing the "Flourish" quest — plant 100 common crops
Once unlocked, prioritize Moonlily and Foxglove. Both are B-tier with strong pet-boost synergy.
5. Money-Making Rotations
Here's the rotation that most veteran players recommend for the first 24 hours:
- Hour 0–1: Goldenwheat × 16 plots. Reinvest all profit.
- Hour 1–3: Switch to Sunpetal × 16. Save for the Bumblebee.
- Hour 3–8: Moonlily × 12 + Sunpetal × 4. Bumblebee active.
- Hour 8+: Unlock a 32-plot expansion. Start Foxglove farms.
6. What's Next
Once you're consistently earning 5,000+ gold/hour, you're out of the beginner phase. Head to our tier list to plan your next big-ticket unlock, or check events to see if a limited-time farming route is worth pivoting to.
